Baker-Martin Home
414 West Lee Street
The home was originally built by J. D. Baker in 1893. The property included stables, an orchard and considerable acreage. It was purchased by attorney Preston Martin, his wife, Juanita, who was instructor of violin at Weatherford College, and their daughter, Geraldine just after the turn of the century. The second story was added in 1907. A successful attorney, he also served many years on the school board. His daughter, internationally acclaimed actress Mary Martin, was born in this home in 1913. The family moved from this home in 1920. The home features a large sun porch on the second floor over the porte cache.
The house is now a Bed and Breakfast called Mama's Wish. For more information
