Edwin Barthold Home
307 West Couts Street
The home was built in 1893 by Edwin Barthold in a Queen Anne Style. Over the years, this lovely home has undergone many changes. The porch was originally two stories and wrapped around the north side of the house. The lot at one time extended to Alamo Street. Edwin and his brother Charles, German immigrants, came to Weatherford and owned and operated a large mercantile business here. Mrs. Edwin Barthold, like Mrs. Charles Barthold, was an accomplished artist. Their son, Edward, built model trains and villages and entertained the neighborhood during Christmas with his displays.
