Loving Home

119 West Josephine Street

Isaac N. and Annie (Loving) Roach, the original owners, built this Victorian cottage in the spring of 1891.  From his birthplace of Tennessee, Isaac came to Texas in 1860, fought in the civil war, was an attorney, legislator, and county judge and President of the Board of Trustees to Texas Female Seminary.  Annie was the daughter of Oliver Loving of the Loving-Goodnight Cattle Trail remembered in Larry McMutry’s Lonesome Dove.

From its construction to the present time the house has been continuously occupied.  While the home has been changed, it does retain much of its original woodwork, hardwood floors, transoms and 12 ft. ceilings. 2011 marks the home's 120TH Birthday!
